... Before you start though, there is something about me you ought to know.
I call it my raison d'être - my purpose or reason for being.
I am here with time to spare which I give freely to support, help, advise or guide
fellow writers and artists whenever and wherever I can.
Free = You don’t pay a penny!
Okay, you don’t believe me, but it’s true.
All you have to do is ask.
If I have the time and the task is within my capabilities, it will be done.
Of course, there’s a catch. I can’t work that fast, so these activities take me
a tad longer to complete. I don’t work well under pressure.
You see, I’ve had a few illnesses in my time including a couple of major strokes.
I guess you have to add a bit of a heart problem, limited mobility and all the little
quirks associated with age. This means, nowadays, I’m not able to go out to work.
I survive on UK benefit payments. That means I can only work a few hours each week
and can’t earn more than a few pounds
So now you believe me. I am a disabled wreck of a man who will probably never be
fit enough for full time work again, but I do have a couple of brain cells which
are not yet ready to give up, so I use them.
If I can use them to help you, I will.
For instance, I can edit in my own limited way, produce the odd cover design and
even construct web sites. I do this for no charge whatsoever, but I believe one day,
one of the authors I’ve helped will sell a million books and remember me with a great
We can all dream!
Just a word about reviews - my five star reviews have all come from genuine readers/purchasers.
I NEVER agree to exchange reviews, sell or buy reviews, nor ask for reviews. However, when
I find one of my books has received an honest five star review from a genuine buyer
who I later find is a fellow writer, I repay the compliment by sending out a Tweet
almost EVERY SINGLE DAY about that writer’s book. I use the #tag #Help_my_fellow_author
so a twitter search should tell you how supportive I am. Their books also get listed
in my Amazon store both in the UK and USA.(Click “Now the Books” on the menu bar.)
I know that sounds as though I’m saying “buy my book” or “Review my book,” - obviously,
I want publicity sales and good reviews, but I think it more important to offer
you something beneficial in return.
If I say so myself, all that promotion for a single review makes the few pounds/dollars
spent on buying a book as perhaps, one of the best investments a fellow writer will
This site is not just about selling books, although I will try to interest you in
my novels, biographies and paintings while you’re here. Rather than repeat the stunning
reviews, I’ve included the links to Amazon so you can see for yourself. These links
are Amazon Stores, so here, you will find not only my books, but also books from
other writers - yes - that’s another way of showing my support. I don’t ask you to
buy my books, but I’m very grateful if you do! If I sell enough, I might be able
to escape the benefit system altogether!
Never Say I Can’t is a personal reflection about that time, more than thirty years
ago, when I had my first major stroke. I was thirty years of age and many thought
I wouldn’t last thirty minutes, but I did. It took eighteen months before I could
return to work as a fully operational policeman.
The Mike Newman Mysteries : Novels in these series address some serious issues where
a handful of corrupt police officers have turned to crime. The novels are for adult
My books have attracted some tremendous reviews, but there is always room for more!
The Gallery pages show you some of my paintings, many of which portray my passion
for the ballet.
So take your time, enjoy your visit and remember, if there is anything I can do to
help you, just ask. If time and health allows, I will.
